Last summer brought a horror
And wind gave a tear
To my solemn sorrow
To bring the joy here
All birds to fly south
For keeper closed the gate
Sun went to pearly ocean mouth
For night to bring the shades
Last summer brought the colors
To brick and stones and leaf
And I sat with thinking rubber
To slant the lonesome grief
And when the summer was high
I left my lonely home
To find another lover
Of mountains and trees to roam
Summer bid adieu
With a sketch upon the wind
To promise for another relief
When winter will leave the grind
